Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
9 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
In my office on top of an Ikea bookcase are several trophies. All of the trophies are from baseball championships, and every trophy I received as a coach were all won with at least one of my sons playing on the team. They had been in the attic for at least 5 years, and I recently cleaned them up and placed them on display.
In 2005 we won the state championship, I have to admit it was amazing rush of emotions. The players had worked so hard, and to finally win a state championship, it was overwhelming, very few people get to experience what we did. We celebrated for days. The significance of the trophies today has nothing to do with the pride of being the state Champs, but with the memories that were made. Memories that were created with friends.
When I look at the trophies, I see faces, and remember names, I think of all the good times we shared. Life is better when we walk through it with friends. The quality of our relationships will determine the quality of our life. What good would a fortune be if you had no one to enjoy it with, or a mansion if you were the only tenant?
Did you ever wonder why Jesus choose twelve disciples or sent them out two by two. Even Solomon said two are better than one, if one falls, the other can help him get up. Work on your relationships with people to have friends, a person must be a friend. Make the change today and start investing in people and watch the quality of your life increase.
